Last June I started training for the Toronto Waterfront Marathon, which is at the end of September. Running a marathon had long been a dream of mine, but it was quite ambitious for me to do it in four months because:
• I was not in shape
• I am 50 +
• I've never run more than 10 km
• I have only run one race since high school, and that one was decades ago
I trained sporadically but with enthusiasm, and among other things I lost weight and a few inches off my waist (but that's another story). In addition, while I was running with my dog I met my current girlfriend, who was also out running with her dog, and we promptly fell in love, but that is a different story, as well.
Anyway, as many might expect with someone out of condition trying to do too much too soon, I injured myself quite badly while training in late August. With the race a little over a month away, I had to stop running for 3 weeks. Anyone who has run a marathon will know this is fatal. It is outside the "possibility realm" (for me, anyway) to run a marathon without training at all.
Next came a coincidence (?): I met a personal trainer at my local dog park who directed me to a sports therapist who did wonders for my damaged legs. With a week to go I decided to see how far I could run at a reasonable speed. After going to level and rehearsing my training, I went to the 400m track behind my local high school and ran around it 55 times in 2 and a half hours. This is not particularly fast but in terms of distance it is 22 km, which is a little longer than a half marathon.
Anyway, to make a long story short, the following week I ran the half marathon rather than the full marathon. During the race I tried going to level while running. I imagined my body working perfectly, my injured legs being healthy and fit. I enjoyed the race and finished in less than two hours, 85th in my age category and in 1750th place among just under 4,700 runners.
Next time I may see how well I can do if I am actually in training. |
| | | | Hi Karol, This is Bruno Touret from the Montreal seminar. First I would like to thank you for your time and dedication. I was amazed by my week-end and I have now one big problem... What do I do with that new found power? So many things to do for me and for others. This is a brand new world opening right in front of me. The Silva UltraMind system is really something incredible and powerful and I intend to experience it in all areas of my life. | | Thanks again. Big thanks | | | | Hi Karol, Thanks for sending us the E-mail. I have a couple of stories too. It is about real estate. It was my listing. A condo. The purchaser who is an agent put in an offer, conditional upon reviewing the status certificate. There was a financial problem with the Corporation, so after having it checked, they decided not to proceed with the offer. I used the Three Scenes Technique, pictured them deciding to review their decision and visualizing the last one as a situation where everybody is happy, because the purchase is finalized. This is what happened. She called me back after a couple of hours telling me that they decided to go with it. The same happened 2-3 days ago, but with another agent and other unit. :) The third story is about a purchaser who decided not to pay over x amount for a property. During the negotiations we had been $2000 apart. I am the buyers agent with intention to protect my buyers best interest, so I decided not to try to convince them to pay more than they had decided to. But I used again the Three Scenes Technique, and pictured the owners changing their minds, giving up basically, and telling me that they were going to accept our offer, because it was going to save them the headache of having more people going through the house, and that they could finally start to pack their belongings... This is what happened. They used MY WORDS telling me about their decision... It was so funny having it realized that they had picked up on my message... :) | | (name changed) | | | | | |
